COMMUNITY PLANNING
Community Planning is a spatial planning system that balances environmental, economic, social concerns with the desires and needs of the residents of a community. It is an integral part of the services that MCCOG provides to its member communities. It is recognized through planning of our built environment with a respect for natural systems, that we can build communities that people want to live and work – ensuring that communities become safer, stronger, wealthier and more sustainable.
MCCOG staff combines multiple planning styles and methods to create a force for positive and sustainable change. Our method builds on rich resources and local knowledge available in a community – its residents – to help communities envision what they want their community to be 5, 10, and 20 years in the future.
