The Landscape Architecture and Urban
Design Department is responsible for overseeing the completion of design
and graphic work for a number of MCCOG projects.
Landscape Architecture includes the
preparation of site plans, planting plans, and grading plans, as
well
as photomontage and photo manipulation work. This department is also
responsible for the preparation of long-range trail plans and design
guidelines for downtowns, subdivisions, and rural areas. The challenge,
as with all design, is to blend the built environment into the natural
environment.
Urban Design addresses the complex,
interrelated issues that arise in city and suburban environments
such
as commercial, retail, and residential use, mass transit, automobile
and pedestrian circulation, and infrastructure. Urban Design searches
for
solutions that respect zoning laws, development agreements, neighborhood
concerns, and a range of social and economic demands.
